Jerry's Career Info Page

It just seems like yesterday that my Air Force career began and almost twenty-three years went by fast!  Since then it's been on to bigger and better things!

The next stopping point after the Air Force turned out to be the Federal Aviation Administration (where I've been since March of 2000). I sent out tons of resumes (which was a big waste of time) and interviewed/talked with some interesting companies (Compaq, Microsoft, etc.) before settling at the FAA as a Network Analyst. Since those beginning days in March of 2000, I've changed the company that I work for but am still located at the FAA in Seattle, and taken on more responsibility. My position is now "Technical Director" over the whole shootin' match. I'm still personally responsible for the Northwest Mountain Region, but now do national "big program" planning and implementation.

The staff here is great, both the IT staff, and my dearly beloved User's!

The folks here at the FAA are good to me, my opinion counts and I feel technically respected.  Not to mention the fact that since I've been here I've replaced 100% of the servers and workstations and have led them from Wintendo (Windows 98) to XP with a full-up implementation of Active Directory. I've rebuilt it the way it should be! And... as with any high-tech field, the learning never stops! After gaining my MCSE in preparation for civilian life, I decided to go ahead and chase the +I (plus internet). I've implemented Windows 2000 in the domain and are ready to upgrade to 2003. ISS (my contracting company) is footing the bill to upgrade my MCSE to 2003. I'm not so hot on the test taking anymore but do find it beneficial when talking with someone who's so technically near-sighted that they think you have to be certified to know anything! Anyway, as you can see from our web page, even though it was built with FrontPage 2000 and now maintained with FrontPage 2003,  I've picked up a little HTML knowledge (can you pick out the parts that aren't built with FrontPage?) and although networking pays the bills, web related technology is where the fun is!

And , of course, we couldn't forget the old resume. There used to be more than one version depending on whether the position was technical or managerial but now there's just one!.  The buttons on the left bar lead to the html versions.
